Tell us a little bit about your health journey and how you got into being a nutritionist:
I was the client. I spent the majority of my life being consumed by my weight. I was overweight as a child and through my early adult years. I started diet pills when I was in the 5th grade! I tried every diet and every pill out there, bingeing, purging... I hit some really low points with my health.
It wasn’t until I had moved back home after a few years post-college that I realized I needed to try something new (again!). I was living off of meal replacement shakes and “cleanse days”. It was brutal. I started working with a trainer and started eating real food and I was seeing changes. That was just the start of my journey….
I eventually fell in love with strength training and started working with a nutritionist. She opened up my eyes to a whole new world….blood sugar management. I learned so much and also realized I could eat food, feel good and lose weight…. 60lbs to be exact! It was pretty incredible.
From that point I realized I wanted to do what she was doing…empowering women to make themselves a priority, and know that there was a better way (and less miserable) way to lose weight. I eventually changed my career in marketing and started a new job developing wellness programs for some of the largest employers in Orange County. On the side, I was getting my health coaching certificate and building The Wellness Concierges! I have now taken TWC full time and it’s been a dream come true!
