First, I apologize for the delay in my post this week. Holiday hustle + work has gotten crazy. Something that has been on my mind…

I have been talking to so many women lately who have been brushed off by their Doctors when they go to them about Perimenopause issues. It is incredibly infuriating. At 47, and a proud Gen X’er, I believe we are the first generation learning to advocate for ourselves and educate ourselves about Perimenopause.

Dr. Mary Claire is one of the first Doctors to openly discuss how poorly educated doctors are on the female body and what happens to women before menopause. Because of her research, we are FINALLY getting some answers, but there are still a lot of unknowns and a lot more work to be done.

I am pretty sure I began Perimenopause around 43. I experienced something that many women are; I had gained 10 lbs overnight, I was crawling out of my skin. Terrible anxiety, and not feeling like myself. Like many others, my doctor proceeded to prescribe me an anti-depressant and told me to just eat less. My gut instinct told me there was more to it than that. That is when I enlisted the help of a Naturopath. You can read all about what I did to get my body + mind back HERE.

Over the last 5 years I have done a lot of research. Reading, and listening to try to educate myself better. Here are some things I wish I would have known earlier! It is common sense, but, I do believe everything we can do in our 20’s and 30’s will help how we feel later in life.
